MedTech Europe provides the voice of the medical technology industry in Europe, from diagnosis to cure. It represents some 37,000 business entities in the world’s second largest medical technology market with a market size which is estimated at roughly € 150 billion in 2021. The industry covers a wide variety of technologies, from medical devices to in vitro diagnostics (IVDs), ranging from the simplest syringes or bandages, glucose tests, to high-tech cardiac implants and dialysis machines. As a respected and credible trade association, we have broad expertise which we can bring to bear, on both horizontal issues impacting the whole industry, and on vertical issues concerning a specific sector.
Who does MedTech Europe represent?
MedTech Europe members come from the full range of medical technology manufacturers and representation, including:
- National trade associations
- Pan-European product associations
- Large multinational manufacturers of all types of medical technology
- Start-ups and SMEs

Who can become a MedTech Europe member?
Any national association, or any company with offices and activities in Europe is welcome to become a MedTech Europe member, as are start-up ventures.
Start-ups and more generally Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) can apply as Partners in Research, a category of Corporate Associate Partners to participate to all activities in research and innovation at MedTech Europe.
Why do medical technology companies need EU Representation?
Because an increasing number of decisions that impact the European business environment for the medical technology industry are made at EU level or influenced by the EU. To fully understand the potential impact of these decisions, and to have effective input into the policymaking process requires relevant expertise and knowledge. MedTech Europe, with its internal competences and extensive knowledge of, and partnerships with, key European institutions, decision-makers and processes, can provide members with invaluable guidance.
In addition, members can benefit from a strong industry presence at a global level; MedTech Europe can provide the European voice at the appropriate forums. The MedTech Europe team can also offer essential support to members’ European business operations and make sure that your interests are represented at a European policy level.
All Services and Products created or otherwise owned by or licensed to MedTech Europe and provided to its Members, as per the definition of the MedTech Europe Statutes, remain the exclusive property of MedTech Europe. Members, which in addition to medical technology manufacturing provide consultancy services to other companies in the Life Science sector may not in any way: (i) use, share, modify MedTech Europe Services and/or Products of any kind or nature with any other Company Entity and their respective personnel, representatives and partners, to provide consulting or other services of any kind or nature whatsoever to any individual or entity, or; (ii) develop for others, materials that are competitive with those produced by MedTech Europe or which are a result of the Services provided.
