The Opportunities of the New Health Technology Assessment Stakeholder Network

Last February, the Health Technology Assessment Stakeholder Network application period came to an end, and MedTech Europe officially submitted its application. Now, all applicants will patiently be expecting to know more about this network, in terms of how the member states HTA Coordination group will ensure an appropriate involvement in its work. MedTech Europe is optimistic that the HTA Stakeholder Network will aim to encapsulate key principles such as inclusiveness and responsiveness, while being loyally committed to upholding transparency and accountability throughout.

In MedTech Europe’s view for the EU Regulation on HTA to be of added value, a stakeholder network must be involved in a collaborative way, with regular contact, during the implementation and application phase while applying new ways of leveraging the IT platform to facilitate interaction should be part of guiding principles. MedTech Europe looks forward to being part of the dialogue (art. 29 Regulation HTA) as well as to take up the role of engagement towards the identification of emerging technologies (art. 22, 2 (e) and consultation on the annual workplan as planned in the regulation.
