We, the undersigned 93 European associations representing key European research & innovation stakeholders, hereby urge the EU Institutions to make research, development and innovation (RD&I) a priority within the next Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027. We call on the Council of the EU to raise the budget allocated to the Horizon Europe programme to at least €120 billion (in 2018 prices), of which at least 60% should be dedicated to the “Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness” pillar.

Brussels, 12 September 2019 - MedTech Europe has joined 16 organisations active in human and animal health in sending an open letter to Members of the European Parliament urging them to bring antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to the forefront of EU interinstitutional discussions and to support the establishment of a dedicated AMR parliamentary group.

MedTech Europe welcomes the leadership that the Council has taken on this global health challenge and in particular the attention directed to the importance of infection prevention and control as well as to antimicrobial stewardship programmes.

Paris, 16 May 2019 – MedTech Europe completed a commissioned project classifying existing mechanisms in Europe that fund medical technology innovation. The project ‘Taxonomy of Value-Based Access Programmes (VBAPs) / Funding for Innovation’ looks at 23 European countries and explores the benefits of such programmes in facilitating the uptake of innovation into the healthcare systems.
